Our tracks

Our private Euroa training facility features five purpose-built training tracks. This gives our trainers distinct advantages over racecourse based operations and even other private facilities by:

  1. Allowing our horses to experience a range of surfaces and conditions (including beach-style sand) without having to travel anywhere to access them.

  2. We can tailor the work needs of each individual horse each day.

  3. Adding variety to our training regime to keep horses mentally fresh and happy.

  4. With two all-weather tracks, our horses are able to complete their training on a safe surface whatever the environmental conditions.

Grass Gallop

The Jewel in the Crown of Lindsay Park is our 2000m turf track. Inspired by the shape and dimensions of Caulfield and with the same surface as Flemington, our grass gallop is used mostly for home gallops and race simulations. The uphill finish provides increased fitness benefit to our horses while reducing the load on their front legs and strengthening their hind-quarter. Our grass track features laser timers meaning each horse’s work is precision timed and recorded for the trainers use.

Synthetic Track

Our 1800m All-weather synthetic track allows our horses to train in all conditions ensuring they never miss a beat in their schedule. This track is used for fast work including race simulations. Just like our grass gallop, our all weather track features an uphill finish and laser timers.

This track takes the pressure off of our grass gallop and is a great back up for when our turf track is being spelled for maintenance.

Long Sand

With a winding “S” shape, our 2400m long sand is perfect for building and maintaining fitness while keeping our horses mentally stimulated. The “S” shape design requires horses to change their leading leg throughout their work, encouraging mental alertness as well as training both sides of their body making them physically more balanced. As our longest track on the farm, horses get to enjoy a peaceful canter through the beautiful country landscape finishing off with a fitness building incline at the end.

Hill Track

Fantastic for building base fitness, our 1200m all-weather hill track provides further variation in our training programs. Set on a steep incline, horses cantering on this track gain incredible cardio-vascular benefit as well as increased development of their hind-quarter. Being an all weather surface means that our horses can complete their slow work even when our sand tracks are closed due to wet weather.

Deep Sand

With our 600m deep sand track we have brought the beach to Euroa. Modified in recent years to create a deeper surface, this track has been designed to replicate working on the beach. The increased depth of the sand makes the surface harder to work through, providing greater fitness benefit to our horses without increasing the load through their legs. This track is used for slow work with all horses working clockwise to provide balance in their training and get them familiar with working on their Sydney leg in the event that they race across the border.
