Life after racing
Rehoming our retired runners
Lindsay Park is officially acknowledged by Racing Victoria as an OTT thoroughbred retrainer giving us the opportunity to truly follow our horses through their entire career lifecycle and ensure they receive every benefit at the end of their racing careers. Horses retiring from the track due to injury or performance are always given every opportunity for a rewarding and happy life after racing. We genuinely care about the horses we train and want to see them all find loving, forever homes. Many horses special to Lindsay Park and our team end up with a home for life here at the farm, often as companion horses. They live out their days on our glorious 1500 acre Euroa farm pampered and adored.
Upon retirement, our horses go through an internal process at Lindsay Park that assesses the following:
Horse’s injury, if any, and the time required for rest and rehabilitation before any equestrian work can be undertaken. Some injuries mean the horse won’t be suitable for some disciplines. Some medical conditions make the horse unsuitable for rehoming, eg recurring cardiac arrhythmia.
Temperament.
Equestrian ability.
Type (looks).

At Lindsay Park, our experienced equine educators retrain the horse to prepare it for a new life. Depending on the horse, this process can take weeks, or months. We then match horses to homes that will offer the skill level necessary to further develop and care for the animal. This is a process we take very seriously and endeavour to ensure an appropriate long-term match in each case.
Quite often, horses find their forever home with a staff member who has formed a particular bond with them while they’ve been in work. A condition of all rehomes is that if for any reason the horse can no longer be provided adequate care, or is no longer wanted, the horse is to return to Lindsay Park.
