Job Title: Trackrider with Stable hand Duties
Reports to: Team Leaders and Assistant Trainer

Job Purpose:

The duties of Trackrider include riding trackwork in preparation for race day events and procedures and advising the outcomes of the work to the Trainers or Assistant Trainer. Complimentary duties are to otherwise manage the daily welfare of thoroughbred horses as a stablehand and assist the Trainers, Assistant Trainer and Team Leaders.

You are required to work under limited supervision and direction and have responsibility for mentoring and facilitating the learning of others, paying particular attention to the occupational health and safety of themselves and others in the workplace.

Principle responsibilities:

1. To ride track work and exercise as determined by the Trainer and his Assistant paying particular attention to the horse, its action and its recovery

2. Safeguarding the welfare of all employees and the horses

3. Behaving in a calm and careful manner and at no time using an instrument to threaten, whip or beat a horse

4. Following all reasonable lawful instructions.
