Cup Fanatic - Another in Adelaide

Another Cup topped off an incredible weekend of results for the stable, with NZ mare Fanatic clinching the Gr 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) at Morphettville.

The five-year-old mare, who won the Gr 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) for Graeme Sanders in 2016 before landing the Listed Sandown Cup (3200m) last spring for Lindsay Park, fought on tenaciously to defeat Ormito in the $400,000 race.

Ridden to perfection, it was another Cup for Michael Walker, having nailed it on Harlem in the Gr 1 Australian Cup at Flemington just two days previously for the stable.

Fanatic who was transferred by breeder owner Sean Kiernan to Lindsay Park from NZ will now tackle the Gr 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Randwick on 14 April.

It was a seventh Adelaide Cup victory for Lindsay Park, the most recent win just two years ago with Purple Smile (Zabeel).

Ben Hayes who was in Adelaide was ecstatic with the Cup win on top a remarkable Saturday at Flemington and was full of praise for the staff team and the Lindsay Park training farm stating "The staff do a really great job. Also, we've worked hard to get our property at Euroa up and going. Part of our success comes with having big day paddocks allowing the horses to have long preps and it certainly seems to be working."
