CHAMPION THOROUGHBREDS - POWERED BY MATCHEM GENETICS

CHAMPION THOROUGHBREDS is a company that purchases, then syndicates young race horses, so that people who would like to experience ownership of a race horse, can do so, with only a minority shareholding. Owners will have the comfort of knowing that their investment will be managed by professional, experienced, and knowledgeable people, who will ensure their purchase is given every opportunity to succeed and live up to its best racing potential.

The process involves purchasing young racehorses from yearling sales or well known stud farms to present to the market in parcelled shares (minimum 5%) in the horse for up to 20 separate individuals / syndicates. The horses will generally be valued at between $50,000 and $220,000 with a maximum syndication figure of $250,000 per horse.

Once the horse is fully syndicated, Champion Thoroughbreds will manage the career of the horse, from its initial education stage all the way through to its sale on or before retirement, in an attempt to maximise the return to shareholders, while keeping in mind the "enjoyment" aspect to this type of purchase.

Individual owners are treated as any horse owner would be – they will receive one individual itemised account for expenses incurred by each animal per month, throughout its career, each owner will get their name/syndicate name in the racebook and experience the race day involvement that ownership entails.

In December 2015, Champion Thoroughbreds formed a partnership with Matchem Racing to create Champion Victoria. The new entity will work closely with Matchem Genetics in sourcing and syndicating yearlings identified through Matchem’s unique and comprehensive DNA testing processes.

Under the partnership, clients will be provided with a premium ownership experience, which is second to none, not only on horse selection and communications but will also create exciting opportunities to network with fellow owners through a calendar of social activities held on and outside of race days.

The distinctive red racing colours of Champion Thoroughbreds can be expected to grace Victorian racetracks in ever-growing numbers over the coming years.

ARENA - ROYAL TOUR YEARLING COLT

5% shares / $8,000

Champion Thoroughbred’s son of Arena, is a horse with a proven pedigree. By a classic winning son of Danehill, he is a three-quarters-brother to the grade one winning Regal Cheer. He was the top rated colt of the sale by Matchem Genetics

Arena was a five-time graded stakes winner whose triumphs included the Victoria Derby (gr. I) and STC Canterbury Guineas (gr. I). He’s sired such as grade one winners Regal Cheer and Rena’s Lady, and graded stakes scorers Whitefriars and Raise.

Champion Thoroughbreds’ colt is the second foal of his dam, Royal Tower, a half-sister Arena’s daughter Regal Cheer. This outstanding performer defeated Mnemosyne to take the AJC Surround Stakes (gr. II) and accounted for Star Shiraz and Mnemosyne to capture the STC Coolmore Classic (gr. I). Subsequently, Regal Cheer has produced Knoydart, who not only won the ATC Canterbury Classic and MRC Hareeba Stakes, but also took second in the BRC BTC Cup (gr. I) and third in the VRC Newmarket Handicap (gr. I) and MRC Oakleigh Plate (gr. I).

The granddam of this colt is the swift and precocious Regal Chamber, who stamped herself as one of the best two-year-olds of her crop, winning the STC Magic Night Stakes (gr. II), and taking third behind Guineas and Encounter in the STC Golden Slipper Stakes (gr. I). Regal Chamber is half-sister to the dam another fine performer by Arena, in My Lady’s Chamber who captured a win in the Canberra RC National Sprint Handicap, and a second in the AJC Flight Stakes (gr. I). Regal Chamber is also three-quarters sister to the STC Reisling Slipper Trial Stakes (gr. II) and Newcastle JC Coca-Cola Classic (gr. III) victress Moment’s Pleasure.

The family goes back to a sister to the world-record breaking sire, Smokey Eyes via Social Smile, ancestress of numerous other major winners including two-time VRC Newmarket Handicap (gr. I) scorer Razor Sharp; Stradbroke Handicap (gr. I) winner Robian Steel; Super Elegant, successful in the BTC Doomben Ten Thousand (gr. I) and SAJC Goodwood Handicap (gr. I); graded scorers, Steel Blade, Social Rule, Miss Fantabulous, Valentia and Border Time, as well as Coliseo, another Arena stakes winner, and out of a mare closely related to the granddam of this colt.
